Boy do i run bad, the day of the bash i set off to pick up ChipRich from Bilton and somewhere between setting off and getting to his house something happened to my car. And i soon realised that when the car is put into reverse the back right wheel wasnt moving backwards, simply dragging along the floor! After going to a few garages to ask if it could be looked at to no luck, i was advised not to drive it. So we had to wait until The_Gib finished work to see if he could take his. It turned out he could, and after a quick stop for some petrol and beers, we were on route.
The route to Luton is pretty simple, I bagged shotgun early and chilled with some tunes and cold bevvies. We had a comedy drive down and Horneris ripped the piss out of pretty much everyone we drove past. We turned off to Luton and found the hotel pretty fast and went in to ask where the car park was, of course the first person we see is Mr. Colchester Kev himself, Vodka + Coke in hand and exclaiming to the room that the ''Happy shopper gel wearing miners'' are here, after which the whole room of 50 or so broke into laughter.
We met with Sunday8pm, Ferrari, Poppet, Leon and Rainbow to go hit the casino for a few pints before shipping out to some clubs later on. Sunday and Ferrari were a great pair, shipping the bevvies in from the off, and after 4-5 pints and a 'shortie' (Perno+black) a great drink that nearly made Horneris throw up, we were off to Chicago's.
We got in there and saw Tighty, Claw75, Tantrum, RookieITB, ITB, ChippieLeicester and the ITB crew after a few VRB's we were ready to go to the more Dance club next door. It was a decent club i thought and we got a table + sofa and shipped in more drinks. All i can really remember is a neon blue light somewhere. And next thing i know we are back at the casino with another pint in hand talking to various blondes. At this point Horneris and ChipRich bailed to bed, leaving Me, The_Gib, Sunday, Ferrari, LittleMissC and Londonpokergirl1 at the casino, we made our way back at about 5:30 and asked the taxi driver if anywhere was open for food...sadly it was not, and a bag of crisps at the hotel would have to be enough.
Saturday
I was intending to play the football this morning, but in LeKnave like fasion, i stayed in bed, and let Sunday, Ferrari, ChipRich, Horneris and The_Gib battle away to a vailiant 2nd of 3 finish.
I got out of bed around 12 i think, and made my way downstairs to catch the second half of Man U vs Everton. I felt pretty rough, and wasn't up for the poker torny later. I think its the first time i've ever not been up for poker in my life. Anyway, i had a few cokes and a burger, and felt a bit better.
I got off to an up and down start in the torny, i liked my table. I had a lot of passive players so employed a tactic of limping pre, then betting the flop, which took it down basically every time. I did however have 2 players i could have done without on the table. ITB and SuffolkPunch. These 2 pwned me pretty well, i had decided after hand 1 to stay away but still bluffed off about 1000 to ITB which i won back off SuffolkPunch in a pretty scary hand:
I held [4h 6h] and limped pre, he limped behind me, and the flop came down [Jh 6c 3h]
I bet out 200, which he called and we were HU. The turn came a [Qd] i decided i was going to c/r him all in here, i checked, and he bet out 500, the amount i figured he would, i shoved for 2100. I felt this bet looked very strong. And he would have to fold a JX, which i had him on...and if he somehow calls, i have a few heart balls to catch. He dwelled for ages and gave me the stare. I felt i looked so weak when he did this, but he did infact fold. He ended up busto'ing me with 77 on a [7h 8h 3h] when i decided to gamble for a big pot with [Ac Kh] I missed the heart, and went to rail gibbo then start the HU torny.
Our first HU round h
ad us pinned at 2-2 with me playing the deciding match, i came through to beat MiamiVic in a cooler (flush vs 2 pr). Then it was dejavu in round 2, this time i was against the well respected AndrewT. And after losing a 2K pot in hand 1 when he caught a 5 outer on the river that i decided it would be a good idea to pay off! I played the HU pretty poorly and deserved to lose, the final blow with him 3/1 up in chips. He had been raising OOP wheneve r i limped on the button, so i limped with 99 on the button, he duely raised and i pushing, he insta-called and i knew it could be trouble, he flipped Ah Qh and the Ac fell in the window. So no back to back title for the jocks and miners :-( Despite the failings of 4 of our team at one point in the HU torn, the ever reliable Horneris owned both his HU matches to make him 6 for 6 at blonde bashes, the kids got a mean game baby, watch ur back...even owning celeb Dave ''Compo'' Compton in round one.
The_Gib and Horneris shortly busted and ChipRich was grinding with 2.5 BB's. lolo. Ferrari was also still in, winning nearly as many pots as perno+blacks he had drunk. I was pretty nailed by this point and i dealt a few HU games, including one for Dave 'elblondie' Colclough himself. Then sat around with The_Gib and Swordpoker while he showed us some of his mind reading skills. Which were impressive to say the least. Horneris at this point was starting up a PLO8 sit and go, which took a record 3 hours to get done and he ground out a worthy 2nd place
In this time, somehow ChipRich went from 5K to 41K, he runs good. And was b
eginning
to LAG it up with his ever growing chipstack. Each time i went over, he had more and more. He told me he played the FT bubble well and loved his table. Except the shark that is Ferrari. On the final there was a lot of action, and ChipRich always seemed to have the best of it. AA vs 88, AJ vs A7 etc. He spiked a 2 outer with 88 vs QQ to send another packing then got down to 3 handed, where he flopped a set which he played very slow and managed to trap tank for all his stack. It got HU where he had a huge CL, so he refused to deal with Ferrari. Ferrari began to show his experience and ground Rich down enough that Rich chopped £1200 each with £400 going to the victor. Rich eventually came out on top, with his AKo beating Ferrari's Kh Qh, the board came a fun JXXT, so we had a big sweat for the river. But another T ended Ferrari's hopes.
He certainly got his 15 minutes of fame with a TV interview and all, make sure u look out for Tom Ferrari's interview on PokerWeek in 2 weeks time. He was nicely hammered and the bullshit was flowing from his mouth like a waterfall. Was great fun.
We went back to the hotel, despite 2 of our boys shipping £2800 between them we were too knackered to ball it up in some clubs after the friday. Despite sunday and ferrari being up for it, respect for those boys, they have stamina. We left the hotel bar at around 5am to get a few hours sleep before the trip home.
We all had a great weekend, roll on bB5 baby.
Ship it. Holla.
